IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Avery
December 23, 1961 – January 10, 2026
David Avery, fondly known as "Dave," was born on December 23, 1961, in Fullerton, California. He passed away peacefully at his home in Davenport, Iowa, on January 10, 2026, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Dave dedicated his professional life to various roles that showcased his technical prowess and deep appreciation for the outdoors. He served as a small engine technician with Home Hardware and was deeply involved in the golfing community, having worked as a Greenskeeper and Assistant Superintendent at golf courses across states from Arizona to Iowa. In addition to these roles, he was also known for his adventurous spirit as a retired bull rider. His career was marked by a passion for fixing things, an obsession that stayed with him even as he fought against his illness, often found tinkering on small projects around the house.
Quiet and reserved by nature, Dave's demeanor would often shift when he formed connections with those around him. His loved ones will remember his gentle spirit and the warmth he offered to those he cherished.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Avery, and his daughter, Katlynn Woodruff, who is engaged to Austin Stahl, both of whom reside in Davenport, Iowa. Dave also leaves behind a cherished Grandson, Michael Little, and a son, Austin Avery, along with Clara Woodruff, and his brother, Theodore "Ted" Avery, ensuring his legacy and spirit will continue through them.
David was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Avery (affectionately known as "Babe"), and his mother, Jeannette Avery (fondly referred to as "Jan"). Their memories remain intertwined with the love and values they instilled in him, which he carried throughout his life.
As family and friends gather to honor David's memory, they are reminded of the indelible impact he made on their lives. He will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of love, strength, and resilience will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his memory page at www.mvcremation.com.
