Daryl
Seyffer
September 30, 1950 – April 13, 2026
Daryl Paul Seyffer, 75, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA, surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Born on September 30, 1950, in Rural-Beaman, Iowa, Daryl grew up surrounded by the close-knit community and open landscapes of central Iowa, experiences that shaped the genuine, down-to-earth man so many came to know and love.
Daryl built a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, where he served his community faithfully until his retirement. Outside of work, he was known for his easygoing nature, quick wit, and a sense of humor that could lighten any room. Those who knew Daryl understood that his laid-back attitude was not indifference but rather a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
An avid bicyclist, Daryl could often be found riding through the streets and trails around Waterloo. He was a passionate lover of music, especially live blues bands, and he never missed an opportunity to catch a performance. He also enjoyed reading and spending quiet time with a good book, or watching an Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball game. Above all, Daryl treasured the time he spent with his daughters and friends, and his warmth and humor made every gathering better for his presence.
Daryl was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Shuberg-Seyffer, his brother, Dennis Seyffer, his father, Charles (Harry) Seyffer, and his mother, Alice Seyffer.
He is survived by his daughters, Angie Rieck and her significant other Joe Westerhoff, and Amy Seyffer and her husband Joe Bickel; his grandchildren, Elsie and Henry Rieck; his stepchildren, Sam (Lisa) Shuberg and their children Kaitlyn, Rachel, Calvin, Ben (Emily) Shuberg and their children Adeline, Abram, Clara, Samuel, and Heidi Shuberg and her children Kingston, Charlie, Meru; his sisters, Shirley (Gene) Bowers and Jeanne (Red) Montenier; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Daryl's positive attitude shined throughout his three-year battle with cancer. He continued to smile and remained hopeful right up until his last breath. His courage, grace, and unwavering spirit in the face of illness inspired everyone around him and stood as a testament to the remarkable man he was.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer in Waterloo, Iowa. Details will be shared with family and friends as arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Daryl's memory by enjoying good music, a long bike ride, or a moment of laughter with someone you love.
Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his memory page at www.mvcremation.com.
