Danny Joe “Dan” Hollars, 70, a devoted servant of the Lord, was called home to be with his Savior on March 5th, 2026. Guided by steadfast faith, Dan lived a life devoted to God, finding joy in manual, outdoor labor, and love for his family.
Born on January 10, 1956, Dan dedicated his life to Jesus at a young age, a commitment that defined his character and actions. Dan began his career in carpentry before transitioning to a long-term role as a public bus operator, serving in that capacity until his retirement. In his later years in life, he devoted himself to contemplative prayer and analysis of the Early Modern period, specifically learning about the Protestant Reformation, the Catholic Counter-Reformation, and the post-Reformation scholasticism that defined ecclesiastical history between 1500 and 1700.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Delores (Vint) Hollars, and his wife, Pastor Nellie Hollars.
Survivors include his children, Stephanie (Richard) Nuñez, Samuel (Kayla) Hollars, and Hannah Hollars; brothers Steve (Mary) Hollars, Rodney (Mark) Hollars, Patrick (Martie) Hollars, and sister Brenda (Ted) Heitz; grandchildren, Emily Steele, Callahan (Emily) McDaniel, Alesia Nuñez, Corbin Hollars, Ashton Hollars, as well as great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews; lifetime friends who were family by choice, John and Linda Lennon.
Family and friends are invited to a service for Dan on March 14th at 11:00 am in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum; burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to QC Christian Care in Rock Island, IL https://christiancareqc.org/what-we-do.php reflecting Christ’s profound compassion and attentive care for those in need.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his memory page at www. mvcremation.com.
