Charles “Chuck” David Lindsey, 82, of Rio, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Chuck was born on August 7, 1943, in Woodhull, Illinois, to Rolland and Marian (Nelson) Lindsey. He graduated from Alwood High School and married his high school sweetheart, Diane Henrikson, on October 8, 1965. At Alwood, Chuck played basketball and football, and ran track. Additionally, he attended Monmouth College, where he was a member of the SAE fraternity and the men’s basketball team for one season.

After graduating from college, Chuck was drafted into the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed on the East Coast. He was on both diesel and nuclear submarines in the Vietnam War as a Second Class Radioman. After leaving the service, Chuck worked as an insurance agent for Porter Insurance Agency for over 30 years, retiring in 2011. Chuck was a dedicated family man and loved watching sports. He was also an avid horse racing fan and was a part-owner of Lin-Nel Standard Horse farm.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane; his daughters, Jacque (Dave) Kohl and Shelly (Reanna) Lindsey-Perera; and three grandchildren, Logan, Cameron, and Cassius. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stuart (Kent).
