Charles (Charlie) W. Dykeman, 76, a resident of Hillcrest Homes, Geneseo, IL, formerly of Alpha, IL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
He was born in Moline, IL, on August 4, 1949, the youngest child of Chester and Nina (Dison) Dykeman. He married Jean A. (Jeanne) Weidner on January 27, 1968, in Orion, IL. She preceded him in death on April 15, 1997. They would raise their five children in Alpha, IL.
He worked at Tyson Foods for many years. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and coaching his children's baseball and softball teams. He also umpired for many years around the Alpha and Woodhull areas.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Ron Dykeman of Puyallup WA, Chuck (Amanda) Dykeman of Alpha IL, Lori (Brandon) Mott of Columbia MO, Lynn (Chad) Gibbs of Galva IL, and Nick (Dawn Patch) Dykeman of Rock Island, IL, his brother, Ollie Dykeman, formerly of Cambridge, IL, sister in laws Joan Richter of Osco, IL and Julie Weidner of Geneseo, IL, 13 grandchildren, Kenny, Dani, Dalton, Ali, Kaci, Trinity, Devan, Jaymi, TJ, Derek, Landon, Tyler, and Sofia, 5 great grandchildren, Lilli, Melody, Wesley, Vivian, and Malena, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Nina, his wife, Jeanne, his sisters Carolyn and Marcia, his brother Roger, his father and mother-in-law, EJ. and Emma Weidner, 3 brothers-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Hillcrest Homes and Hospice Compassus for their exceptional care, comfort, and compassion. Your kindness meant more to us than words can express.
