Carolyn A. Thomas

Carolyn Ann Thomas, 74, of Erie, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Hope Creek Care Center on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, after an acute illness. 

Carolyn was born August 26, 1950, to Robert and Shirley Hook in Clinton, IA. She grew up in Albany, IL, and was a graduate with honors of Fulton High School, class of 1968. Through her school years, Carolyn was a member of the choir and the thespian club. She loved singing and acting. She teased that she opened for a "famous person" under a stage name in Branson, Missouri, back in the day, but would never divulge any more details to her family. She was an avid book reader, loved crossword puzzles, crochet, and was very crafty. She loved making homemade Halloween costumes for her daughter and always had the best ideas.

Although she battled many health problems throughout her life, Carolyn maintained her strong spirit and faith in the Lord. She was active in many church functions and loved the fellowship that it provided. Many loving friends from her church family were dearly cherished by her. She was also a proud Grandma and loved her grandchildren very much.

Carolyn was preceded in death and will be reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband Paul Thomas, infant son Christopher, sister Connie, and brother Darrel.

She is survived by her daughter Ashley (Cassie) Thomas of Andalusia, step-son Justin Thomas of Bettendorf, and grandchildren Jayden Thomas, Zachary Kirk, Anna Kirk, Brandon (Cora) Thomas, Samantha Thomas, Tiffany Dunfee, her 2 brothers Wayne (Soni) Hook and Bobby (Tina) Hook, many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is also survived by her special friend Brian.

Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation, 1811 15th Street Place, Moline, IL.

Visitation will take place at Erie United Methodist Church, Erie, IL, on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm, and a service to follow at 6 pm.
