Candy Czupka, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 11, 2026, in Rock Island, Illinois. Born on December 2, 1955, in Moline, Illinois, Candy’s life was marked by kindness, a generous spirit, and a deep dedication to those she loved.
Candy spent the majority of her career tending bar, a role in which she brought warmth and cheerfulness to all who knew her. She also dedicated many years at the hospital working in the kitchen, where she retired in 2020. Her family and friends knew her as someone who was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer a kind word. Candy's caring nature made her a good person to talk to whenever support or advice was needed.
Candy’s happiness was deeply tied to her family and close relationships. She was the loving wife of the late Dewey Czupka, to whom she devoted her final years, caring for him with unwavering tenderness. She also treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, Nakeyla Wilkins, Jaelynn Wilkins, and Amelie Wilkins, finding joy in their company and watching them grow.
Survived by her sons, Jamie and Micheal Phelps, And 3 siblings Sharon Rangel, Micheal Phelps, Mark Phelps. Candy leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and generosity. Her sons, her grandchildren, Siblings and friends will hold her memory dearly in their hearts.
Candy was predeceased by her husband, Dewey Czupka, and her siblings Rusty Grail, Sharlene Stark, Rocke Phelps, and Max Phelps. Their memories alongside hers remain a part of the foundation upon which her family stands.
Throughout her life, Candy touched many people with her kindness and her willingness to help. She valued friendship and family above all else and consistently showed a spirit that invited warmth and trust. As those who loved her reflect on her life, they remember a woman who was vibrant, caring, and truly good to talk to—a soul whose presence brought light and comfort.
