Brenda
Lykam
Dec 13, 1947 — Oct 22, 2026
Brenda Joan Lykam, 78, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Holiday Palmer Hills, Bettendorf, IA.
Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline,
Brenda's life started out not so easy and not so loved. Born a fatherless child Dec 13th 1947, to a single mother. Life proved to be quite difficult. She graduated highschool and met Joseph Lykam in 1967 after he returned home from Vietnam. Their life grew immediately and successfully having two children over the years, Michael and Stephanie. Although they achieved great success in the Quad Cities in an HVAC business they knew they desired much more and decided to move their small family to Sarasota FL in 1981. Everything changed at that point and Brenda's inner God given talent, as an interior designer came to light, and Joe the wood working craftsman, by her side, ran a successful business, Naomi's Draperies & Upholstery, for 25 years decorating for the rich and famous, so humbly retiring at 55 years of age. After 42 years of marriage, her beloved Joe, passed away in 2008, leaving Brenda a grieving widow, which led her back to the Midwest, where 2 1/2 years later she met her beloved, Stan Uskavitch. She referred to these years as the "desert" of her life. And if you knew, you knew. She lived some of the best years of her life with Stan and traveled the world. A cherished friend said it best, "your mom and Stan had a zest for life and reminding all, that we should enjoy the day and journey." Cheers to a life well lived and a journey full of love. An extraordinary woman, most would consider glamorous, a celebrity she should be. Her light will continue to shine bright in our hearts and her faithfulness was second to none. Brenda didn't just talk the talk, she walked the walk when it came to her love and personal gospel to Christ. Cheers to a beloved mother, to your love, and faithfulness 💕 job well done.
Brenda is survived by her beloved daughter Stephanie Alaniz and son Michael Lykam, four grandchildren; Michael Jr., Sophia, Alex, & Ella Lykam ❤️
