Beverly J. Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the age of 83 in Rock Island, Illinois. Born on October 27, 1941, in Rock Island, Beverly embodied the spirit of kindness and warmth throughout her life.
She enjoyed a dedicated career in healthcare, serving at Lutheran Hospital and Heartland Healthcare where she touched numerous lives with her sincere compassion and gentleness. Her education began at Rock Island High School, followed by Black Hawk College's nursing program, where she cultivated the knowledge and skills that would define her career.
Beverly was known for her loving nature, often welcoming friends and family into her home with open arms and a meal prepared with care. Her passion for cooking extended beyond mere sustenance; it was a means through which she expressed love and devotion to those she cherished. One could often find her immersed in the joyful melodies of Neil Diamond, a soundtrack to her moments of leisure.
Family was the cornerstone of Beverly's life. She is survived by her son, William Johnson; her daughter, Diane Rodgers; Michael (Taryn) Reyes, Christopher (Chris) Reyes, and Lori Reyes (Shane) and a host of other family members who brought her immense pride and joy. Beverly’s proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children and her nine grandchildren along eight great grandchildren, who were a true reflection of her legacy.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward Johnson Jr., her son Timothy Reyes, and her son-in-law Ray Rodgers. They hold a cherished place in her heart as she is remembered fondly by her family who will carry forward the values and love she instilled in them.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Beverly J. Johnson will be held on July 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial located at 1811 15th St Pl, Moline, IL 61265.
