Barbara Jean (Peffer) Collman, age 72, of North Liberty, IA, peacefully passed away on November 10, 2025, and entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Barb was born on January 17, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Glenn & Mildred (Murphy) Peffer. She graduated from West Waterloo HS in 1971 and Central College (KS) in 1973 before obtaining her education degree from Greenville College (IL) in 1976. Barb married William "Bill" Collman in 1974. They spent many years in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and raised their family in the Oskaloosa community, among other homes around the Midwest.
Barb is survived by her husband, Bill; her sister Mary Ellen (Steve) Helvick; and her children Jay (Hope) Collman, Meredith (Nick) Meyer & Kyle (Elise) Collman, and many nieces and nephews.
Barb dutifully worked as a church secretary, elementary teacher, legal secretary, book editor, and was a published author. Her favorite hobbies were music, writing, knitting, crocheting, watching her grandchildren’s musical and athletic activities, and enjoying family gatherings.
Barb’s favorite role was that of Grandmother to her treasured grandchildren: Elisabeth Collman-Long (21), Abigail Conlon (18), Levia Collman (18), Audriana Collman (16), Daniel Collman (13), Macy Meyer (11), Miles Meyer (9), Leah Collman (8), Max Meyer (6), Elliot Collman (6), Evan Collman (2).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn & Mildred Peffer, and her brother Craig (Sandy) Peffer.
Barb was a devoted Christian mother and wife who was looking forward to meeting Jesus, her Savior, and is now singing with the angels.
In her memory, donations are being collected to give to the University of Iowa Hospital Palliative Care floor. The care Barb (& Bill) received while Barb was in palliative care was so honorable, caring & loving, and the family wishes to honor that staff in her memory. Cremation will be directed by Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, Moline, IL.
