Alejandro
Torres
January 24, 1986 – April 5, 2026
Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial
2:00 - 4:00 pm (Central time)
Alejandro "Alex" Torres, born on January 24, 1986, in East Moline, Illinois, left this world far too soon on April 5, 2026, in Elgin, Illinois. His sudden and unexpected departure has left a profound silence where once there was vibrant laughter, a bright smile, and an infectious zest for life.
Alex was a man whose spirit was as expansive as his personality. Known for his great sense of humor and mischievous nature, he was a natural-born prankster who delighted in the joy of making others laugh. His presence was magnetic—a large, outgoing personality that drew people in effortlessly, enriched by a determination that colored everything he pursued. Whether trying to fulfill his youthful dreams of becoming a handyman—despite some memorable and endearing misadventures—or savoring the next culinary adventure as a die-hard foodie, Alex embraced life with an irresistible energy.
From the tender age of two, when he was caught taking his mother’s car for a joy ride, Alex's spirited nature was evident. He loved music deeply, his favorite songs both a comfort and an anthem—“Take It Easy” by the Eagles struck a resonant chord in his heart, alongside the raw intensity of Linkin Park. His passion extended beyond sound; he was a lover of horses, finding freedom and solace in the rhythm of their gallop.
Family was Alex’s cradle and compass. His love for his nieces and nephews was boundless, spending treasured hours in their company, creating memories that will forever shimmer with warmth. His legacy lives on in his beloved children, Alex and Nova Lou—and in the sheltering love of his parents, Nancy Jones and Alejandro Torres, who nurtured a son whose outgoing spirit knew no bounds. He also leaves behind his siblings, Phillip Jones, Trudi Robinson, Yolanda Roberts, Raquel Torres, and Emmanuel Torres alongside a cherished network of aunts, uncles, and cousins—Consuelo and Ruben Olano, Guadalupe and Rogelio Alcala, David Alcala, Ricardo Alcala, Jessica Olano, Ryan Olano, Kashe’ Robinson—each touched in unique ways by his laughter and light. There are countless other beloved cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
His grandparents, Jose and Maria Raquel Torres, stood as pillars in his life, while the memory of his late grandmother, Eileen Leaf, whom he dearly loved, remains a sacred thread woven through the fabric of his story.
Alex’s life was a tapestry rich with joyful moments, marked by his unwavering love for people, a bright smile that could lift even the darkest days, and an infectious laughter that will echo in the hearts of all who knew him. Though his journey ended prematurely, his spirit rides on—the quiet strength of a horse, the carefree joy of a favorite song, the irrepressible spark of a man who lived fully, loved fiercely, and brought light wherever he went.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 10th, from 2 pm - 4 pm, at Mississippi Valley Cremation and Direct Burial, 1811 15th Street Pl., Moline, IL.
In the wake of his passing, those who loved him are invited to remember Alex not in sorrow alone but in celebration of a life beautifully lived—one marked by kindness, humor, and an extraordinary capacity to connect. He was, simply, unforgettable.
